‘The world is one. There are no borders in human rights protection.’ The Chungnam Regional Policy Agency has carried out diverse policies and events to protect the human rights of foreign laborers in Korea and to promote their profits. The foreign nationals are happy to see their programs in progress. Recently Korea has seen an increase to the number of foreign nationals in Korea including the workers. Those events designed to protect foreign nationals and promote their harmony with Koreans are important in that they attracted the society's attention to the need for human rights protection for foreign nationals.

There was held a meaningful event at the Shinbu Public Peace Center of Cheonan Police on September 26. The Human Rights Protection Center for Foreigners, which is expected to play a leading role in protecting the human rights of foreign nationals in Cheonan, had been opened. The center was set up to represent the voices of the gradually increasing foreign laborers and spousal immigrants in the northwestern area of Chungnam that has been growing with further industrialization, as well as to meet the needs for their human rights protection.

In an attempt to receive reports about their victims' cases, promote their rights and profits, and heighten its status as an international human right police, the Cheonan Police came up with an initiative to establish human rights protection centers where many foreign nationals gathered. The Cheonan Center is the second in the Chungnam Province after the Asan Center.

Determined to lead the actions to protect the human rights of foreign national, the Chungnam Police held an event where they got together with the local people under the slogan of “We're a family.” The event was full of love and warmth.

With the active policies for foreign nationals in Korea, the police decided to encourage and praise the Korean police officers working in foreign nations.

Invited to the event were 17 police officers that were either the children of the Korean immigrants or adopted in 11 countries including the United States and Norway. The Chungnam Regional Policy Agency is planning to make the event a regular one and to continue its policies to protect Koreans in foreign countries.
