The Flower Research Institute of the Agricultural Research and Extension Services in Chungcheongnam- do held a seminar on November 6 titled “Measures to improve the business mindset in order to expand the volume of flower export” by inviting foreign buyers of Chrysanthemum, with export farmers in attendance.
A-World’s representative Lim Eun-yeong, who imports Chrysanthemums from Chungcheongnam-do to Tokyo, Japan, and Makoto Ninomiya, who operates flower enterprise HANA Co., in Osaka, participated in the seminar. CFC Co., which is a Korean exporter of Chrysanthemum, and NH Trading also participated in the seminar in order to explore measures to revitalize the export of Chrysanthemums.
Buyers who participated in the seminar suggested shortening the cultivation period by 2-3 weeks and cultivating Chrysanthemums 20cm shorter than the existing ones in order to increase the energy reduction effect and package usage and to respond to the various needs of the Japanese market.
Park Ha-seung (local agricultural researcher), who is the head of the Chrysanthemum Team in the Flower Research Institute, revealed their plans to increase the export volume of a low-temperature blooming Chrysanthemum species like “Borami” and the standard Chrysanthemum, “Chungnam ST-6” which is to be registered this year, by exporting them to Japan in full swing beginning next year.
Chungcheongnam-do is exporting 1.5 million stems of Chrysanthemums every year to Japan.
