● In Korea : Global Leaders Who Visited Chungnam

Saemaul (New Village) Leaders from Nine Asia Countries
On October 22nd, 2014, 37 participants from 9 Asian countries visited Chungcheongnam-do for three days to attend the 1st Global Saemaul Leadership Forum 2014. The new global village leaders went on factory tours to the Hyundai Motor Asan Plant and other high-tech industrial sites.

They then visited Mundang Village at Hongsung to learn the history of Saemaul Movement’s development in 1970s as well as its current status. The 1st Global Saemaul Leadership Forum 2014 was held to rediscover the value of the Saemaul Movement and share the vivid experience of local community development with international leaders.


GCS LA Club Delegates
GCS LA Club delegates from the USA visited several industrial and historical sites at Chuncheongnam-do for two days starting on October 17th. The delegation of 16 people, including Ellen Volmert, City Manager for the City of La Palma, also features several influential figures from education, administration, and police sectors in USA. Their visit to Chungnam is expected to maximize the effects of our promotion efforts in the U.S.


Active Participants of Asian Interchange Organizations through “Baekje Cultural Festival 2014”
To participate in Baekje Cultural Festival 2014, many delegates from Asian local governments visited Chungnam. A total of 40 government officials from 10 different countries’ local governments attended the festival.

Among other important foreign guests, Governor Shogo Arai(荒井 正吾) came from the Nara Prefecture, Japan, Mr. Huram from the Long An Province of Vietnam, and Mr. Zaori(趙李) from Yanbian China attended, just to name a few.

Mr. Ono Daisuke(の小野泰輔) from Kumamoto and three participants from Siem Reap, Cambodia also were very important guests. Several heads of the department from 6 interchange groups and 248 members of 7 different civil interchange organizations enjoyed the festival as well.


● Abroad news : Chungnam Leaders who Went Abroad

Vice Governor for Political Affairs, Seung Wook Heo Visited Cambodia and China
From November 17th to 21st, 2014, Vice Governor for Political Affairs, Seung Wook Heo went to Cambodia and China to deliver messages of hope and friendship.

He attended a donation ceremony held at the Cambodian Siem Reao Military police office building on November 18th to donate five fire engines which will be used for emergencies such as patient transportation and firefighting.

On November 19th, he went to the Guangdong province to establish the sisterhood relationship and to seek for economic and tourist industry cooperation.


Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs, Suk Doo Song Visited Western China Regions
To promote the cooperation among local governments, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs Suk Doo Song embarked on a tour to regions in Western China, starting with the Tsinghai province.

Mr. Song discussed a need for exchanges and cooperation at Tsinghai on September 1st, and at Sichuan on September 3rd.

The next day, Chungnam and Guizhou signed a friendship treaty. This agreement will make it possible for the two provinces to cooperate in various sectors, including administration, culture, tourism, economy, education, etc.

Mr. Song soon visited the Yunnan province to discuss mutual cooperation and to establish a bridgehead for expanding markets in South Asia and China.
