CEOs of foreign companies gathered together to help to activate Chungnam's attraction of foreign investment.

Chungnam held a gathering of ambassadors to promote its attraction of foreign investment on March 18, 2010. The ambassadors were the CEOs of foreign companies, who gathered together to present their action plans to promote its attraction of foreign investment.

The “ambassadors to promote Chungnam's attraction of foreign investment” who attended the gathering were the CEOs of foreign companies that invested in Chungnam; Frederic Billon (54) of LaFarge, a French plasterboard company, Hiroshi Miki (57) of MMA, a Japanese petrochemical company, Brett Kimber (50), of Linde Korea, a German industrial gas company, Mark Prusiecki (49) of MTG, an American industrial gas company, Gary Harte (44) of Edward, a British vacuum pump company, and Matthias Ludwig (56) of Infineon, a German semiconductor company.

They will engage in promotions to attract foreign investment for Chungnam including providing investment information and counseling and doing field works in their fields in order to help the province reach the goal of 1.5 billion dollars.

“Foreign direct investments (FDIs) make positive contributions to Korea's economy by securing long-term and stable foreign capital, creating new jobs, transferring advanced technologies, and improving the corporate structure,” said the acting provincial governor Lee In-hwa. “I ask the ambassadors to make use of their professionalism and field experiences for active participation and activities to vitalize the efforts to attract foreign capital.” He also asked them to do active promotions of the Great Baekje Festival to be held in September to the concerned companies and their home countries.

Listening to his words, the ambassadors emphasized the need to further reinforce efforts to expand foreign investments in the new renewable energy and service industry and explore new foreign investments and promised to take active part in the province's policies of active and aggressive approaches to foreign investments.

Appointed as the ambassadors of Chungnam's investment attractions, the CEOs of foreign corporations are promoting the advantages of investment in the province by industries and nations.
